rebmo,
Please expand on your comment about Onkyo extending the warranty on the TX-NR717 til 2018 or perhaps provide the web link to the source of that news, which is pretty significant.
Thanks

When in doubt, do the right thing.

Hi guys,

Writing for future reference.

I purchased Onkyo Tx Nr717 from amazon.de 2012, I live in Oz.

I started to have issues with audio. Onkyo 717 HMDI no sound (actually an issue with all inputs including analogue, TOS etc)

Selecting different inputs and changing surround mode then powering off and on 3 or 4 times can get it running again until you power it off. Start the procedure again etc.

Onkyo dealers will not even look at my receiver due to it being an import.

I have heard the board cost $450 which I was willing to pay but no one would sell it to me so I looked into it further.

I found a link on youtube How To Fix the Onkyo TX SR606 HDMI Input Problem

You will have to search, this site wants 5 posts before I can add a link.

I ordered a dozen of these and replaced them. All is good.

You know were you can stick it ONKYO. Cost me $6.00 !

After the demise of two Onkyo's, I find they are more trouble than they are worth. Sure you can send them in for repairs and Onkyo now has extended Warranties but then I lose the use of my Receiver for a month or more. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I doubt it, since no Manufacturer institutes extended Warranties unless they have to. However they have great features for the price.

Attaching a NAS?

Has anyone successfully attached a NAS drive (via router) to the ONKYO 717? I left a post on this topic but no response.

Cheers,

I've got a ReadyNAS attached to the same network as my 717. It can see the music but not the films. It is a "feature".

Hey all. So I've had my nr717 for little over a year now. Love everything about, haven't had any issues as far as defects BUT.... This is a big but. I've always has lip syncing issues. Google searching seems to show me that it's a pretty common occurrence with Onkyo hardware. So I'm curious....

How do all get around the lip syncing issues? I've tried just plugging my bluray player directly to the TV with HDMI, then using digital optical from the player to the receiver so I'm not passing video through the receiver hoping it would resolve the syncing issue but it doesn't. It helps. Still A/V is out of sync. Right now I'm giving ARC a try, but using that I don't get legit lossless surround. Receiver defaults to THX Cinema listening mode.

While gaming I do notice not passing video through the receiver instead plugging HDMI directly to the TV cures input lag issues so that's one upside.

Should be noted I only use the "direct" setting on the receiver for video so it shouldn't be doing any kind of processing to the video which would cause more "lag" but still the lag is there. I'm kind of at my whits end with the whole thing. Any insight or ideas would be great. Constantly having to adjust the A/V sync numbers is horribly inconvinient.

Surround sound drops out?

we have had our onkyo tx-nr717 for over a year and we love it, however recently we have had this issue. While watching tv from cable box or streaming Netflix from Apple Box the surround sound drops out and it seems like the TV speakers kick on very loud. This only last about 2 seconds then it goes back to normal. It just started this about a month ago. When it happens I try to get to receiver to read what the display has changed to but each time it reverts back to normal before I can read it. This seems to happen about once an hour. Has anyone else had this happen and are there any fixes?
Thanks
