My dad was given a setup from a family member about a year ago and him and I don't know a lot about audio and I am needing some suggestions and direction.
He received what's listed below:
2x Klipsch Heresy Speakers
2x Klipsch La Scala Speakers
More modern Klipsch Sub
then a McIntosh MC150 PreAmp and a Yamaha AX-900U Receiver.
My question is, since I know the McIntosh PreAmp runs 1200-1500 used could I just sell it and then get a decent receiver for him? Currently it's all setup using the AX-900U and I am pretty sure it's an old/outdated receiver and we don't have the MC150 hooked up and it all works fine but there's a little feedback at times. What's the benefit of using that McIntosh PreAmp?
What's a decent receiver that would power the speakers with no problem, or what should I look for when purchasing a receiver?
I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-91TXH. Would that be something I should just give him and upgrade myself? Would that power the speakers fine?
