Hi everyone

I have this great offer to purchase a pair of KEF 203/2. I am currently using a Morel 5.1 SoundSpot MT2 on a Yamaha RX 673.
My little Yamaha is WAY too small for the KEF's and I'm considering getting a new AV amp.
I know that a dedicated stereo amp will do a better job with the KEF's but all in good time smile.gif

Will the Yamaha RX A3020 be good enough to drive the KEF's? Or will it be an utter disappointment?
Can my Morel 5.1 coexist with the KEF's?
I would use the KEF's as the front speakers and the extra Morel satellites as front presence speakers

Hope there is someone out there that can provide me with some advise

Thank you very much

Regards from Singapore

Marcus

Try your current amp before you knock it. The KEFs are more efficient than your current minispeakers.

Hello
I have my Yamaha RX-A 3020 paired with Revel Concerta Surround system and it works beautiful.
My friend has RX-A 3020 paired with Revel Performa F32 and the sound is fantastic.
I strongly recommend to use it with high resolution files ,flac ,through digital coaxial or hdmi,as you will have a better sound over analogic inputs.
So even in stereo this AV Receiver is very good.
I strongly recommend this receiver to everyone who is seriuous about quality sound.

To audition 205/2s I used an Onlyo TX-NR1008 initially and it sounded very good. However adding a Bryston 4Bsst2 later was even better with the 1008 running preamp duties.

Main Kef: Reference 205/2 & 202/2c, Surrounds: Kef XQ40, Velodyne Optimum 12, Integra DHC 80.3, Oppo BDP-103, Bryston 4Bsst2, Parasound Halo A31. Second B&W: 685 (3), CCM618, Def Tech Powerfield 1500, Onkyo TX-NR1008, DBP 2010, Samsung BD-C7900, Zone 2 Klipsch AW650. Sitting still CCM616, Kef...

I finally received the Kef's and they are phenomenal smile.gif my morel and the kef's play very nice together. Surround with the kef's as the mains has improved tremendously. Very much more alive and better depth.
As for the stereo performance of the 673, well it wasn't meant to do this.. Don't get me wrong, it's very good, but the sound stage is very flat..
I can see the time coming (very soon) where I have to get something that does the kef's justice... biggrin.gif

Thank you for all your advise

Regards from singapore
