I see on Denon's website, with the discount included, I could get a refurbished Denon 1913 for $279. The Denon 1613 would be for $199. I think what I'm paying extra for is the extra wattage, 7.1 vs 5.1, and a higher version of Audyssey. Based upon these things, do you think these warrant the extra $80 and would I benefit from the higher Audyssey?

The system will be going in a 14x20 basement with 7 1/2 foot ceilings. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

I don't see the higher version of Audyssey? The Denon site shows MultEQ for both. The step-up 2113 appears to have MultEQ XT (more filters).

Seems like the room is large enough that you may want to go 7.1 at some time.

I wouldn't sweat the 15 watts difference, since it'd yield less than 1dB increase in volume.

If it was 75w versus 150w, on the other hand, that'd get more interesting, as it's a 3dB increase. Amazingly, still not a whole lot. smile.gif

I'd consider the remote, any convenience features you want, room-correction software, and the 7.1.

While the 1913 doesn't step up Audyssey and the watts-increase is negligible, I'd say the $80 is easily justified by the greater number of inputs (you'll always need more than you anticipate) and the additional two channels, and other features like 12v trigger.

Wow you are right. I just assumed the 1913 had the MultiEQ XT, but I was wrong. I think the 1613 will suffice then. Damn!

Just to let you know, you can buy a refurbished Denon 1613 on their website for $199. All you do is enter the promo code DENON20 and you get $50 off. For $199 and free shipping, that's a heck of a steal. Plus, I charged it with my American Express and got the extra year warranty. So, I now have a two year warranty on the receiver. Not bad not bad....

I went to Best Buy over the weekend, and they had the 1913 on sale for $400.00. The manager lowered it to $325, but I ended up ordering the SC-1222-K for $529.99 from newegg.
