Hello, long time lurker of this forum, decided to register today.

I decided to start a new thread because the search function didn't return anything. Does anyone have any information on the new AVR receivers that Onkyo will launch this spring. As I understand the new X2X receivers will add wifi capability, NetTune and Airplay, but I will be gladly corrected if anything of this is not true.

I have an Onkyo TX-SR707 of which I am very happy about, but is lacking internet connection. Especially the new TX-NR626 which would be essentially the same as the TX-NR717 with Wifi/NetTune added and the TX-NR828 (TX-NR818 with wifi/NetTune) seem very interesting .

Anyone who can add sty. to this?

Thank you for creating this thread.

I am also very curious since Yamaha, Denon and Pioneer have all announced the 2013 entry level line up.

Actual phone call (see pic to left):

Tech (responding to laughter): "I'm sorry sir, did I miss something?"

Me: "Yeah, a case of Diet Mountain Dew walking across my living room."

Ok, found them. They (Pioneer & Denon) seem quite clueless if I read it right. Hopefully Yamaha & Onkyo will try to better that. I have the 707 and only want/need internet connection, so If my information is correct (TX-NR626 = TX-NR717 + wifi) - which I doubt - then I am certainly interested in the 626...

i expect all onkyo to be 4k native in 2013 models , like the 5 yamaha models, denon and pioneer both launch only one 4k native amplifier

2012- 4k upscaling
2013- 4k native

Looks like the press release for the entry level receivers in the 2013 line up is out

Onkyo TX-NR727 (above), which – like the £500 TX-NR626 – is a 7.2-channel model, and the 5.2-channel Onkyo TX-NR525 (£400).

Among the features of the new range are built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, app-controllable streaming of formats including FLAC, Apple Lossless, Dolby TrueHD and LPCM from network storage, improved Audyssey MultEQ room correction and a wider choice of streaming content and internet radio providers.

I'm waiting to see what is on the 828 with the Full Audyssey processing. Depending on what it is I likely wouldn’t mind at 818

What is meant by 4K Native?

Agree. The 828 could be exiting.

Is now also on the Onkyo website. Have to say, the 727 seems tempting; going to read a little further.

4k pass through lets 4k play natively (new in about all 2013 models (previous was only 4k upscaling, which seems odd, because if t can upscale it certainly should be able to pass it through. But that 's the way it is...

Well, it looks like it has better Audyssey (multiEQ vs 2EQ) than the 717, but it looks like they took out the pre-outs on the 727. See here: http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?m=TX-NR727&class=Receiver&p=f

I gues: 828 = 818 + Wifi + Bluetooth. I am holding my heart though if it will have the same amplifier and video treatment...

According to the Onkyo HK Website the TX-NR828 only comes with MultEQ, not even MultEQ XT eek.gif

http://www.hk.onkyo.com/en/products/info?pro=TX-NR828

So I guess the 929 would be last year´s 818

Sorry for my ignorance but is there such a big difference between the MEQ and MEQ XT?

MultiEQ XT equalization filters can make corrections to narrower peaks and dips in the more detailed correction curve then MultiEQ can. This is particularly evident in the low frequency range of the main speakers as MultiEQ XT will provide a much flatter response then Multi EQ.

Since these are the mass market products, I can see why they would reduce the cost of the room correction. Most mass market buyers will not know or care about the differences.

So for a MSRP of $900 (727) or $1200 Onkyo (828), Onkyo marketing thinks customers care little for room correction. OK their problem. Certainly helps the other CE vendors with their sales! biggrin.gif

Street price and MSRP are very rarely the same thing. But yes, anything under a thousand dollars street price I consider mass market. That said, we still need to wait for the actual products to come out. What they wrote could just be a quick, short, version of what is there. There was much confusion over what kind of room correction was on the Onkyo 1010. 3010, and 5010 prior to release as well.
