I sold my Denon 4311 and kept the Sherwood, and I loved the 4311.
Unless you have a perfectly set up, dedicated room with perfect speaker positioning, Trinnov provides a sound field that is unmatched for movies and music. The 4311's XT32 did EQ my speakers a little bit better, and had more channels, but I never used them.
I added an XPA-5 amp, and now I don't think I could ever go without trinnov ever again. Once you hear it, its awe inspiring.
Screw the quirks, its worth it. I also just happened to pay less overall for the r-972 and the xpa-5 then the 4311 itself, which not only made it the best sounding audio setup I've ever had, but also the best value.
Add in some jbl 190 towers at newegg for under $160 shipped each with that v.me coupon, and you have a poor mans audiophile quality sound system.
I built my sub, and now will be building my speakers, so it will only get better.
