Right now amazon has the V673 at $550 and the A720 for $650. The $100 difference does not matter to me.

I'm wondering which is the better receiver?

They both have 90W of power. Zone 2 capabilities. The same app for android and GUI I'm sure.

Is the A720 definitely $100 better than the V673? (I know I said $100 doesn't matter to me but I guess it does).

I believe the AVENTAGE line has better build quality to them but does that relate to better sound?

I do 80% music, 20% movies.I like to stream SiriusXM and stream FLAC songs from my computer. I'll be hooking up a Blu ray player, and a cable box to it. I have Ascend Sierra 1s in the front and HTM200se for surround (5.1, though no sw yet). The Sierras have mid range sensitivity, is 90W enough to power them? I like to play music LOUD.

I would like to have both Zones play both the same input and different inputs. I see the A720 doesn't have "Party Mode" What is Party Mode? I believe it has to do with how the Zones interact with each other.

Is the A720 definitely a better receiver?? Any features the A720 has (or vice versa) that the V673 doesn't have?

Thanks for the input I've put a lot of questions in here, I've been looking for a receiver for awhile now and I think I've finally narrowed my choices!

I also don't have a need for pre-outs.. unless 90W isn't going to power my Sierras enough. In that case, I think it would make sense to go with an AVR with more power instead of getting a separate amp..

Not sure about the Party Mode (have you downloaded their manual and compared them?--they might be the same), but the main differences are the fifth foot, the detachable power cord, extra dial on the front and an extra year of warranty (three versus two for the RX-V). Your call.

The 720 and 673 don't have preamp outs anyway. You need the A820 or V773 for those.

that's not a great price for either one of those receivers. The RX-V673 had been on sale for $399 in the past. Yamaha has announced the RX-Vx75 models so you should expect a sale on the x73 receivers.

Or get the Pioneer SC-1222 for $499 which is a much better deal with the $50 promo code
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117412

If you want a Yamaha then Costco has the HTR-7065 for $499. The HTR is equivalent to the RX-V773 so a higher model than either receiver you mentioned.

Hey thanks for the recommendation. Looks like the SC-1222 has everything I'm looking for and is in the price range I want. Can't see anybody complaining about it in any forums, so I'll go for it. Thanks.

I had the Pioneer 1122-K and liked good enough but I kept on getting HDCP error on it and returned it for full refund while I still can. I didnt' care for the GUI or android APP to play music from Windows Media Player on my computer, but I can live with it. I am just making a couple playlists on my computer to make it quicker to pick the songs I want.

Ordered! Can't wait to crank it! (the receiver).

I've had two Sierra-1s in the front, and have a Sierra-1 center and HTM-200se ordered on the way. Now I just need a subwoofer!

I was looking at HSU subwoofers and thinking about picking up the VTF-1 MK2. Anyone have any thoughts? I might save up for a Rythmik F12 if they're that much better.. I might have to post this over in the Subwoofer Forum though..

yeah, post that question in the sub forum.

Good luck to the Orange this week. They need to beat Indiana to help make up for that 1987 championship game loss.

They lost in 87 to Indiana and 96 to Kentucky. So they need one more title to even their championship record at 2-2.

you can get the 773 for 500...Just hooked mine up Monday, very nice avr for the coin. plus it comes with the y-10 wireless and pre-outs for every channel! Its a much better buy than the 673, not sure why most opted for it instead of the 773.
