G'day folks. I've got a problem that someone might be able to help me out on. I've got the amp wired to my router and then I'm wifi to my Mac with external HD attached. I'm trying to access the music on the external HD using the NET button on the remote. The server page keeps saying NO CONTENT. I have the folder on the external HD ticked for file sharing with access to everyone. It seemed so easy to do this with the AppleTV; why not the 475? Cheers.

Net only works for dlna servers. What you need to do is add the files on the external drive to iTunes and then use airplay to access your itunes library.

hi PEOPLE !!!

ok i read around 5/6 pages of this topic but seems i will add a question smile.gif

i NEED to know if ANY, ANY of you confirms that the hdmi STANDBY passthrough on the 475 WORKS with PS3 ; does the video signal pass 100% ok every time, to the TV, when the receiver is shut off ??

the HDMI standby passthrough seems to be a HUGE issue with MANY many receivers....and is a random things be it on yamaha, denon, marantz and mainly pioneer eek.gif

this is my biggest fear preventing me from getting this kit biggrin.gif

will wait for answer....PLEASEEEEE !redface.gif

In the past 4 years I have used a 467, 671 and 675 with my PS3 and never had a problem with HDMI Standby passthrough.

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

@bond: thanx for the quick input i feel better now,...guess all those complaining that hdmi standby pass does not work is because of their CEC devices ? Ps3 is an outstanding piece of kit, i too never had problem in standby on my pioneer...
on a side note, is the sound better going from the x67 to x71 to x75 ? rolleyes.gif

Its better going from 5.1 to 7.1. I have also changed speakers several times. The features are certainly better.

YPAO RSC may be better than the regular YPAO but its hard to tell when you upgrade your speakers at the same time. The best way to get better sound is to get better speakers.

Just purchased a Yamaha RX v675.

I play music via Airplay.

I have a zone 2 set up with speakers in my garage.

Does anyone know if zone 2 works with airplay?

Of course after the purchase and discarding of the packaging, I notice that the 775 has a party mode, which is exactly what I'm trying to do.  Any round about way to do that with the 675?

so, a friend of mine just bought a 575 on my reccomendation to replace an Onkyo tx sr607 that needs repaired. as you all know, the Onkyo has dedicated zone B speaker outputs vs. the Yammy's triple function output. i am installing it for him... my question is this, can he have zone B and 7 channel surround both? he has a speaker selector box that his rear surrounds and the rest of the house speakers are wired into. how should i handle this situation?

Dont know about the speaker box but normally for Zone 2 to work you will only get 5.1 in the Main zone.

It would have to be a 9.1 receiver to get 7.1 plus 2 speakers in a different zone at the same time. The 575 will only power 7 channels at a time.

Every manufacturer makes 9.2 receivers but they will cost ya. It will probably be close to twice as much as the 575.

this was already $100 over what he wanted to spend, the Onkyo TXNR626 is the same price, but he is leary of Onkyo because of the failure of his last two... why is it that Onkyo is the only manufacturer that offers a dedicated zone B output? i suppose i could set the Yammy to 6 ohm minimum and run the fronts and surrounds together and run the rear- in wall surrounds on the surround channels or run the rears and surrounds together...

ok, just talked to the guy. gonna wire the fronts as a 4ohm setup, utilize the in walls for surrounds, and have true zone B capability... honestly, with the way he has his living room setup, 7.1 to 5.1 is going to be a less than minimal difference...

I've read through this thread as well as the one on Denon 2313 and still can't make up my mind. The Denon is about 100 bucks more. I'm going from a 7 year old Hamon Kardon 635 which crashed recently.

These two look similar from what I can see. A few differences
Denon Audessy set up (not sure if that matters) Is ypao ok?
Yamaha - MHL (not sure if that is a big deal)
Denon - 2nd HDMI output (could be handy sometime)
Yamaha - comes with wireless adapter, but I don't need it as I have a ethernet hardline

App control - according to itunes it looks like Yamaha's av controller app is better then Denon's and this may be a deal breaker because I plan on using the app a lot to control zone 2. Not sure if denon's app is good or not?

Can anyone give me a little advice? I've heard some say Denon's sound quality is slightly better than yamaha? FYI hooking up to Klipsch synergy III front, center, surround and klipsch 12 inch sub 5.1, and zone 2 klipsch outdoor speakers on patio.

thanks for any help

If you still have not made up your mind, get the Denon hands down. I owned the Denon 2112 prior to my new V675 and the sound quality is just superior on the Denon. And the 2312 has the XT Audissey which measures 8 points in the room as oppose to the single point on the YPAO.

Hope that helps.

@ALL yamaha owner i need some advice here rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

i am undecided between the 475 & 575...in my country there is a 100USD difference still....

why the dilemma ? because of the cinema DSP3D feature ! the 575 offers the ability to add physical front high speakers - MANY MANY people state this feature is AMAZING -
the 475 offers front high speakers....virtually - MANY people told me it adds something good - many told me it sucks....

CAN you please advise, i would love to hear what you guys think about the feature....and would LOVE to hear from someone who actually compared the physical speakers vs the virtual one

CHEERS wink.gif ahhh biggrin.gif

I use front heights and enjoy it very much. After having 7.1 I would not go back to 5.1. If you can afford the 575 that is what I would suggest.

@bond: thanx for the input...i i guessed that some people might have told me that.; unfortunately i CAN afford the 575...but here it is way too expensive....i dunno if i want to fork that much on a basic arv; its price is almost the same as the aventage 1030...in the US....

any input regarding the virtual presence on the 475

The 573 is almost identical. Can you get it any cheaper? Real is always better than virtual.

Hi There,

I have just bought a rx v 375 and paired it up with tannoy hts 101 speakers and a panasonic gt60.  One problem which I cant seem to resolve is the slight lip sync issue when running through the amp.  If I watch SKY and run the sound via the TV the lip sync is perfect.  Once I run sound via the amp its slightly off.  I have played with the manual lip sync adjustments 0.1ms - .200ms and am finding it makes no difference.... am I doing something daft or missing something obvious?

Many thanks for any help you can offer...

If the audio is behind the video then a delay will make no difference. Is that the case?

I watched it so long last night i started to think I was seeing things... but yes from what I can see it looks like the audio is just slightly behind the video.  So what can be done to try and rectify it?

Not much really. Some people turn the video processing on in the AVR to delay the video. That can help but the 375 does no video processing.
What is SKY? Does it have any settings that can delay video?

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

I have lipsync issues with the built in Netflix app on my ST50. But adding 20ms fixed it.

If your audio is behind, also try turning off all sound processing on the receiver. Run Straight mode, no enhancer, etc. I'd recommend running in Direct mode but I don't think that the 375 has it.
