HI Audiophiles, Need some help here!!
I m totally overhauling my home theater setup and need some advice on AVRs, i m thinking of spending around 500 bucks or a bit more if needed. I have a Yamaha V667 that i m totally satisfied with but would like to replace to get network features and DLNA connectivity. Not sticky to yamaha only.

Just a few possible options are listed below.

Denon 1713, $450
Yamaha RX-V573, $500
Harman Kardon 1700, $325 (Amazon)

Yeah that Newegg sale on the 773 is good through tomorrow (March 28, 2013) and it's the best deal going right now. Jump on it.

Thanks for the input . I m also inclined towards the Yamaha RX-V773WA but looking at reviews and comparisons of these AVRs i found the Pioneer Elite series which is really intriguing too, bit expensive though. What do you guys think, is it worth spending extra on that?

You can always get something better if you spend more money. You set out to spend $500; that Yamaha is $500.

The Pioneer Elites have great specs but I've never heard one. You'll have to search for discussion threads about the Elites and check out what owners think.

Nothing wrong with that Yamaha. But you can get a Pioneer SC-1222 on Newegg for $550 right now, which retails for $1,100, usually. That Pioneer weighs 10lbs more than that Yamaha, Far beefier amp section and power supply.

Quote:
Of course, I got it modified with the TK-427, which cheeks it up another, maybe, 3 or 4 quads per channel.

Costco is selling Pioneer SC-1522 for $599 if you can find one. Its MSRP is $1500 and Amazon still sells it for $1100. Great receiver at a great price.

It is, but the others are right that the Pioneer for $599 is even better. It has a more powerful, more sophisticated amp stage. You have to live near a Costco, though.

You have to be quick and lucky as well. I drove to total of 5 Costcos in my area to find one. It is selling out very quickly if the store has them in stock at all (four of them didn't).

Not all Costcos have them. Read this thread http://slickdeals.net/f/5927446-Pioneer-SC-1522-K-9-2-Channel-Network-Ready-AV-Receiver-599-99-Costco-in-store-only-YMMV and call them using the Costco Item #: 751220. I went to 5 Costcos and only one had it in stock. By the time I got there, only last 3 left.

Not all Costco will carry the 1522. I had to drive about 45 min, but I called first. If you call your local Costco and give them the item #. They can tell you which Costco in your area had it in stock.

The Costco I went go 30 in stock. By the time I went to get one, they had 10 left.

Just note that yamaha has the least amount of failure rates than any reciever out there. the pioneer is a good deal, but if you want to really drive your speakers use the 773 preouts and hit your speakers with some emotiva lovin. there is not going to be a huge difference in reciever power in general, they all still utilize one power supply...does not matter if the avr weighs 25lbs or 50. expect the pioneer to be heavier since its a 9.2 channel so yea its going to have a bigger PS, but still 100watts or 140watts is going to be a minute difference.
