Denon AVR-X4000 and setting up zone 2 outdoor speakers

Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on setting up outdoor wireless speakers to zone 2 of my Denon AVR-X4000. Where it is not bluetooth I think this limits my options on how to do this but looking for any and all suggestions on the best way to make this happen. Would love to be able to be rockin' out on my patio this summer. Thanks in advance.

Instead of configuring wireless speakers, consider adding one or more Denon HEOS speakers around the home as well as on the patio using the HEOS app to stream (currently) one on 12 different music services. I simply unplug one of my HEOS speakers from inside and take it outside to the patio when we want to listen to music out there. All HEOS HS2 speakers are both Wifi and Bluetooth capable. The HEOS 1 even has an additional battery attachment which will power the speaker for up to 6 hours on a full charge.

Am I missing something? Is there a separate owner's thread just for the x4000 here?

Display Model X4200 ?

I have a X4000 right and would love to move up to Atmos DTSx but the 4300 is still 1400 BUCKS ! Sooo today I saw a 4200 for 749.00 .Trouble is its a display thats probably been running idle for over a yr now ,Still I could get the complete Denon Warranty and then either an extended warranty from BB or perhaps Square Trade ? Im leary of all the heat build up though . So what say you ? ? ?

Best served posting an X4200W question in the 2015 Denon AVR Owner's thread.

I'm not too familiar with wireless speakers. Is there a way to connect wireless speakers to Zone 3 on my X4000? I currently have my X4000 in my rec room (Zone 1) and have my back patio wired as Zone 2. I'd love to have my kitchen / dining room as Zone 3 so that I can have the same tunes all through the house when entertaining. A cable run isn't really practical. A single speaker streamed from my cell phone doesn't sound all that appealing.

If you are not satisfied with the audio from a single HEOS speaker, you can buy a second one of the same model number (ie. HEOS 1/3/5/7) and set them up as Stereo Left/Right.

So would I connect them to something like this, which would be fed from my Zone 3 outputs?

If you wanted to pass BLuetooth, yes, otherwise, you could just use the HEOS app using Wifi and create a totally new zone (up to 32 in fact if using single speakers or you can also group up to 16 speakers for whole house audio).

So I woke up this morning to my receiver clicking randomly. I turned it on and off. Then it clicked and turned back on. I unplugged the HDMI from my PS4 pro and this seems to have stopped the clicking. The other day I was playing and the TV acted like it was switching sources. I suspect this was from the AVR as well. Has anyone had similar issues or have any ideas on what to do? Was advised to post this here already posted in general section was informed this is a known issue just looking for cause? HDMI port? AVR E300 reciever

Although rare, it has presented on some units over the years which will require repair or replacement to resolve if a microprocessor reset (post 5) does not resolve the issue.

Hi all,

Quick question around UHD. I'll be upgrading my living room TV here soon to something with 4K and HDR, but reading here it looks like I'll run into issues with my Denon X4000. Is my best bet to get something like the Sony UBP-X800 hook it directly to the TV with audio out to the X4000? Seems that model has Netflix and Amazon built in so if I want to stream 4k HDR I can do it from that device while leaving all my other 1080p devices directly connected to the X4000.

Thanks

Correct. A dual HDMI 4k BDP will allow passing the 4k/HDR video with one HDMI output and the HD audio to the non-4k/HDR AVR with the other HDMI output.

That's exactly what I did with my X4000 and the Sony UBP-X800 and have no issues with it.

Awesome thanks! Makes me feel a bit better, started getting worried about dropping more $ on another AVR. Hopefully this solution will last till HDMI 2.1 is out and then I can upgrade.

Yup ...as long as the BDP is your only 4k source.

For now it should be ok. I see that it supports Netflix and Amazon 4K video so that covers most use cases for our living room. I do my gaming on a different TV (C6 OLED) which doesn't have an AVR since I use headphones, so a PS4 Pro or Xbox One x would go to that TV.

Any ideas why I don't get any display on the tv screen when I select the network or internet radio inputs? Tv says no video detected, I do see the source information on the receivers screen. But Setup menu will display fine and also video from cable box is sent to tv also with no problem.

I'm also battling dropouts on airplay and internet radio. The denon shows up always on the airplay device list but after it connects and starts playing, audio drops out about every 5 seconds. They worked fine when we we first set up the receiver. This belongs to a friend who lives out of town so I cant do hands on debugging for her often.

Thanks for any help.

The first issue is discussed in item 19 of post 4 of this thread. The second issue is also likely going to require a replacement of the network card.

Thank you!
Can you recommend where I can get the replacement card?

Likely no longer available, however, you can check with the nearest Denon authorized repair facility to confirm.
