Hello,

I am running the following for my home theatre setup and I was hoping some of you might be able to offer some suggestions for an AVR upgrade.

Marantz SR5005
Emotiva XPA-5
Goldenear's Triton Two speakers, Supersat 50c, Aon3 Surrounds and a Force Field 4 sub.
65" Panasonic plasma, WDTV live hub, PS3, Panasonic Blu ray player

One of the suggestions I have been given so far is the Pioneer LX56 which I am unfamiliar with (to be honest my knowledge on AVR's are limited)

Would really appreciate any thoughts and suggestions any of you might have.

Thanks smile.gif

The more current Marantz models (SR5007, SR6007, SR7007, AV7701, all 7 channels) from last year all use the higher version of Audyssey MultEQ XT while the AV8801 (11.2) uses the most advanced version of Audyssey MultEQ XT32. Any of the models would be an upgrade in audio quality, so determine what other features/input/output requirements you need and select the model that best meets those requirements as well as your budget.

** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.

Thanks for giving the thumbs to Marantz. Do you forsee Audyssey MultEQ XT32 trickling down to more affordable options any time in the near future? While I don't have a fixed budget, as you can tell from my use of Emotiva and Goldenear I appreciate bang for the buck equipment smile.gif

Is there any specific reason you don't like the sr5007?

It's a 5005, which has been discontinued. And while I wouldn't say I dislike it, I've heard it's the weak link in the system and upgrading it would take better advantage of the Goldenears. But again I bow to more experienced individuals in this field smile.gif

Not likely, or at least not until there is a release of XT64(?) although last year's Onkyo 818 features XT32 and likely it's successor (828) will as well..
