I'm building the Swope HT speakers seen here: https://sites.google.com/site/undefinition/swope-ht

What receiver would work well with these? I've been looking at refurbished Denon and Onkyo but I'm not sure which would be able to handle these speakers well, trying to keep it under $400.

I'm not excluding any other brands if someone has suggestions that aren't Denon or Onkyo.

I've seen h/k avr-3600 around $400 on clear-out. A couple of year old design, but solid.

Just one more option.

That looks nice, thank you for the suggestion. Anyone else have some to add?

Based on that link you provided, these are 4-ohm speakers and although should work at average TV listening volume levels with an AVR in that price range, if you prefer louder movie listening levels, you would want to either purchase a model with main zone pre-outs and connect a more powerful external amp (as suggested in that link) or one designed specifically to power 4-ohm speakers.
