Im looking to buy my first receiver, I am looking for something under 300.00 that i could connect to the internet via cable or wifi although not necessary. 5.1 would be sufficient. i would be hooking it up to a lg lcd tv and a ps3 for blurays and games. what would be a good unit? some receivers ive been looking at are.

Denon avr1513
Pioneer vsx822
Onkyo HT-R590
Denon AVR1613
Harman Kardon AVR 1700

any information would be greatly appreciated!

Out of those I'd go with the Denon 1613, mostly for the Audyssey. After reading http://www.hometheater.com/content/harman-kardon-avr-1700-av-receiver I don't think I'd consider the H/K.

Adjusting settings according to personal preference is not calibration.

keep a eye open I saw a advertisement for the new sony str-dh740 with 4K capability.
there will be very many sales as the newer 4K AVR sets come out. or you will buy
one with a shelf life of a few days.

just a thought.......
