Hello there, I just purchased a projector (optima hd25 if matters) and I would like to connect my pc/Mac/ps3 to it. So looks like i need a receiver. I'm completely new on this subject and it will be the first time purchasing a receiver for me. I would like something cheap, as this setup will be in my 10x12 bedroom do I won't be needing a power unit. I don't like heavy bass either, suggestions? I would like this receiver to be able to handle 5.1 (although I might only use 2.1 on it but it's good to have options) and 3d function as the projector is 3d capable.

Many thanks!

Any of entry level receivers from Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo and Pioneer will pass 3D signals and can handle 5.1. All you said was "cheap". What does that mean in $$?

What speakers do you have?

To keep costs down you could also just use an HDMI switch (to add additional HDMI inputs) and a sound bar with subwoofer and side speakers.

2015 Denon AVR thread ---->

Think your AVR is defective? Check the Owner's manual and do a factory reset 4-5 times if necessary.

OP, buy your speakers first then come back. We can't make a wise receiver recommendation without knowing what kind of speakers you have.
