So I went into my local Bestbuy today and they had an open box Pioneer VSX-53 Receiver. They also have a new VSX-70 Receiver. I am currently getting the Definitive Technology Pro600 Surround sound system and would like to make sure I have the ability to add on. I can't seem get a side by side listing of the specs if there is even one out there. Would just like input as to which receiver I should go with around the 600.00 USD price range. Below is what I currently have.

  • Definitive Technology Pro600 5.1 Surround Sound
  • Panasonic 50GT50 Plasma TV
  • Cable box
  • Xbox 360
  • Playstation 3

Any help would be great

If you have a Costco nearby, the Pioneer 1522 for $599 is a steal.

Plenty of good options. I personally like receivers with decent amp sections and Audyssey MultEQ XT like the Denon 2313.

I don't see the 1522 @ 599.99 on Costco.com but I see it on Bestbuy.com for 1599.99

It's in store only for Costco, not listed on their website. Some have them and other stores don't...if you can find one that has them, it's a great bang for your buck.

Ok ill call Costco that's local to me but in the mean time I'm still wondering as to what one would be the better option, vsx53 open box or vsx70. The vsx70 just looks kinda cheap to me idk

neither...the 1522 @ 599.00 is probably the best deal going in audio equipment. if you dont have a costco nearby, the yamaha rx-v673/773 is a great avr...the 773 has preouts for all channels. denon are good but they are a bit pricey and stay away from onkyo. a hours worth of searching will explain why.

The VSX-53 would be better than the VSX-70 but the SC-1522 is a far better deal at Costco.
