Hey gang,

I'm trying to decide between these two ... Thoughts??

Klipsch RF-62 II Towers
Klipsch RC - 52 II Center
Klipsch RS-42 II Surrounds
Paradigm PDR-12 Sub

Used strictly for basement home theater.
No need for bells & whistles (networking, zones, etc)
Just looking for a good quality home theater receiver.

I understand the Onkyo has some features that aren't necessary for me at this time, but is it a 'better' HT receiver than the HK?

I bought the HK $100 off, for $499. The Onkyo is currently on-sale for $549. The sales end today.

I'm located in Canada, so these prices are high. Just judge them relative to one another.

Thanks for your help!

The Onkyo has many, many more features than the HK. Some people prefer the (once glorious but not sure about the AVR-1700) HK sound.

Both will fit your bill, as those Klipsch's are super easy to drive.

The major question is are you worried about the Onkyo reliability? If not, go for the extra features of the Onkyo.

Regardless of which brand be sure to provide adequate free-air clearance of 3-4" for the L/R sides and top cover....

Just my $0.02... 👍😉

TX-NR616 has Audyssey 2EQ Flavor of MultEQ

I made my suggestion in your other thread but if you prefer the Onkyo, you can get a price match:

http://www.visions.ca/catalogue/category/details.aspx?categoryid=143&productid=10301&sku=txnr616

This is great stuff - Thank you!!!

Best Buy ended up being out of stock, so I can use visions.ca as a price match later this week.

Cheers!

Where do you live? Fry's has the Onkyo TX-NR616 on sale for $369 this weekend.

considering he price matching at visions.ca I'd say he's somewhere in Canada. No Fry's close by there.
