This may be a dumb question, but how do you hook up a powered subwoofer to a Onkyo Pre-Amplifier - P301 (pre amp does not have a subwoofer out jacks and I'd prefer not to use speaker level input on the sub)? I'm assuming that since the sub has a built in crossover that I could use the 'output' RCAs on th back of the the preamp, but i wanted to ask first.

If your subwoofer provides connections for Left/Right input/output, then you should use your pre-outs into the subwoofer, then back to the amplifier, or split the preouts to the subwoofer and the amplifier. I don't know what model subwoofer you have and I can't find a good photo of the back of the P301, but generally speaking, just use those RCA preout connections and you'll be good to go.
