I have no idea if any receiver supports this situation, but a friend asked me to recommend a new receiver.

He runs all his music from iTunes on a laptop. Currently uses a Apple Airport to stream.

He doesn't have a iPhone, so the Apple Remote app is out.

So.... I was wondering if there are any slick options to get a newer receiver with airplay capabiity, install the receiver's Android app on his phone, and be able to control iTunes from there. Long shot I am guessing!

Thanks for any input you may have.

Just for reference looking at below (excluding airplay as a req). Of course, I am sure lots of threads about the selection in general.

Denon AVR-1713
Onkyo TX-NR515
Yamaha RX-V673

Thanks,

Matt

I hate to be one of those guys that doesn't answer the question asked, but I believe there's an iTunes Remote app for Android:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hyperfine.hftunes.release&hl=en

And at $3.99, it's a darn sight cheaper than a new receiver. smile.gif

Thanks!

Looks like retune is another, and free.

He needs a new receiver in any case as he is moving his current to outdoor pool duty.

I appreciate the input, and it is good advice. I will now no longer consider that part of the equation.
