For my point of view, bashing comes in a few stream of reasons :
1. Affordability -
The brand enjoys premium status within the industry with a price tag to reflect that. Users who cant afford or find the price tag too much for something that seems nothing better than what the other "price leader" brands will seem to have certain "hatred" to it.
2. Popularity -
The brand enjoys huge popularity within the industry with sales to reflect and perhaps on a little premium over the other brands. Due to its popularity, many gets to experience the products and it's not always everyone cup of tea so it got bashed for the kind of performance it has.
3. Reliability -
The brand has strong products appeal and price to performance ratio but has doggy reliability and yet poor after sales services to rectify their own mistake. The products get bashed based on the actual users experience as a result of the lousy after sales treatment received.
Just look around and you can see brands that fall into this 3 category of bashing so the most important thing is when such bashing happens, it's our duty as consumers to differentiate which category of the bashing is all about. Many times some brands are a mixture of affordability and popularity whereas certain brands has all 3 factors. It's those brands that have all 3 factors that you should be worrying!!
