I just purchased this new system and I hope I made a wise choice. I am still in the process of getting all my speakers. For the front main speakers I have a pair of Mirage omni 260 that I had for a while but never used.

Well to start here is my two first questions on my thousand to come:

1. Does my receiver need to stay on all the time to watch my TV as when I shut of the receiver I lose the video.

2. I lost my sound from the TV itself. There will be many times when I just want to use the speakers Especially late night when my son is sleeping. Do I have it hooked up wrong or is it a setting in the receiver. I am only using HDMI cables, is there something else needed.

Well thanks in advance and there will be many questions to follow.

Welcome to AVSForum! smile.gif

It helps to identify your AVR model number as well as noting there are quite a few dedicated threads for the various Denon AVRs. If you own a 2012 "XX13" or one of the newer 2013 "E/X" models, then click on the appropriate link in my sig and review posts #3-6, prior to reposting your question in that thread, otherwise if it's a 2011 "XX12" model there is also a dedicated Owner's thread for it as well.
