Decided to get me a Klipsch Quintet 5 with a Sub 12.

Which of these receivers would be better.
Considering the klipsch is rated at 50 watts per channel annd 75 for thr center, im thinking the sr5007 would be better for volume, is this true?

What would you recommend?

If your budget isn't an issue, then yes - take the SR5007 and don't look back.

Depends how loud you play your system. The 5007 has a better feature set also but don't know if those features matter to you.

Currently on the scale from 0 to 98 I have to set it to 80 for it to get loud, which i find kind of strange...is this normal?

After running Audyssey, either model would be set to the same "reference" volume scale (ie. either 0db or 80 being reference) and would require the same amount of power to attain a specific volume. With the 5007 rated at 100W vs. 50W for the 1603, the 5007 would simply be able to go roughly 3d louder.

The 5007 is the better receiver, but if you don't need all its features and don't listen at loud levels, the 1603 will do just fine.
