I would find the problem you're describing of missing a second or so off the first of each track a real deal-breaker, no one should have to put up with that!
I own 2 RX-A3010's and a CX-A5000 and do not experience any startup delay when playing back any audio formats. I have read in other threads that some of those described issues were rectified by firmware updates either in the source unit or receiver in question.
