I picked up a Denon 3313 for a steal of a price as they are currently on clearance with the new X4000 coming out. I have installed and run Audyssey a few times but was curious if I am missing something great holding off for the 4000. Here is a bit about my room:

15x17 dedicated theater room. There is nothing in place currently for audio treatments but I imagine eventually I will, just not sure where to start. I am currently running a 7.2 set up with Polk RTIA7s for mains, CSiA6 for center, FXIA6 for side surround, and RTIA1s for rear surrounds, as well as 2 PSW505 subwoofers. I do not plan to move to a 9.2 system any time soon, but I will be adding an Emotiva XPA-5 to power the front set up and the two main sides.

Coming from a Pioneer 1021 the Audyssey has already done a great job but was curious if XT32 would make a big difference as well as the Sub EQ HT for my two subwoofers. The price different would be about 500-600 difference. I am not an audiophile by any means but I am one of those people that wants to know that I have done everything within my current knowledge base for the best experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where did you pick up the 3313 at? 500-600 difference which means the 3313 is at around 500

I picked it up from Best Buy for $749.00. They will have the X4000 in a few weeks for $1299.

Whether or not you want to spend the additional $$$ to upgrade to the next higher model is always going to be a personal choice. Keep in mind however, that several authorized resellers (AVScience for one) offer these new models at a discount off MSRP, however, you must "call" them to get the discount. So in your case there is really a $300 difference. As most upgrading from XT to XT32 have indicated a noticeable improvement in audio fidelity, just depends on whether that difference is worth spending $300 to you or not. With your setup, and especially with dual subwoofers which the Sub EQ HT can calibrate separately on the X4000, if you can afford the extra $300, it would likely be money well spent. Also keep in mind that there are for more owners who regret not having upgraded to the next higher model than those who upgraded and regretted spending the extra money.

Give Craig a call and decide for yourself ....
