Looking at these 2 receivers aside from the audyssey is their any reason to choose the 828 over the 818. I currently own the 805 which hasn't failed me yet. The only reason I'm looking to upgrade is because I'm tired of having to disconnect the receiver from my blu ray every time I want to watch 3D movies. I was looking at the 929 but don't want to spend the extra money. I was also looking at the Denon AVR-X3000. Getting a like new 818 for under $700 looks very tempting. So does anyone have any experience with the new Onkyo's? Opinions?

From what I saw the 828 is inferior (Audyssey MultEQ instead of MultEQ XT32; slightly smaller amp no 9-ch dsp) so for a lower price the 818 is a better deal IMHO. Only plus on the 828 appears to be built in wifi instead of a usb dongle if that matters to you...

Looking at a few reviews I'm leaning towards the 818

Go with the 818, it's just like the new 928 minus wi-fi and bluetooth. Also it packs XT32 and for under $700 it's a tremendous deal. You can also add an external amp to drive 2 more channels for 9.2ch playback.
