We have a TV and two rear, in-ceiling speakers in a large bedroom (we should've sprung for the whole package when we built the house). The speaker wires run to the TV. We don't need a full blown Amp with all the bells and whistles. Is there something out there that will connect my TV, the existing speakers, and add front right, center, left and maybe a wireless subwoofer, so that I don't have to run wires from one side of the room to the other? Any suggestions will be appreciated since I'm not an Audio expert (just a guy with a TV and two ceiling speakers - smile).

You really need an avr. You might be able to get a 5.1 HTIB and instead of using the rear speakers that come with it, connect your in ceiling speakers.

I figured out that htib = home theatre in a box, but, (and this will show my novice status) what is avr?

AVR = Audio/Video Receiver. Basically it is a surround sound processor with built in amps, generally 5 or 7 channels plus subwoofer. It also includes video/input switching. If you want to run left, right and center channels you need a processor to decode the surround channel audio formats.

I don't need snobs to tell me how to think, thank you!
