I've increased my budget.

I'm going for sound quality. Extra features not a plus, I want the best sound out of the 3.

Harmon/Kardon AVR 1700.

Marantz NR1403.

Denon AVR 1713.

Don't care about features. All roughly cost the same. Looking for one with the best sound quality.

From what I have been reading, Denon does not have as good of sound as Marantz, is this true?

The AVR-1913 Can be had at macmall for less than $300 refurbed..it's 7.1ch.

However..on amazon, it has 11 1-star ratings.

The AVR-1613 has 5 1-stars, and the AVR-1513 has 0 stars,

Reading the reviews on the 1713, it has many issues with the HDMI boards going out, others say it went bad in less than 6 months.

The next cheapest 7.1 is the AVR-E400....but it's $500 everywhere.

So it sounds like to me that the 15/16/17 13 line was pretty crappy with the HDMI.

So far, I've settled on marantz.
