I have the oppo bdp-105 connected to the yamaha cx-a5000 via hdmi 1 (AV1), the yamaha cx-a5000 connected to a Mcintosh mc-402 amp via balanced xlr cables. My question; can I listen to music CDs via bitstream instead of PCM? When I set the oppo to output hdmi audio "bitstream", the yamaha still reads PCM on the display. Also, SACD DSD 2 channel audio is not heard. Is there anything that can be set on either unit to pass bitstream?
Thank you in advance.

Can you say something on the difference between the Oppo 105 analog out and the Yamam CX5000 connected by HDMI with the Oppo? I M interested in movie sound only!

Question to see if anyone has incurred a similar issue connecting the Oppo 103d to the Yamaha CX-A5000 pre/pro via a CAT6 Baluns connection.  When I fire up the entire system with an Elan HC4 (G) wireless remote, the Oppo will caused the Sony 55es  projector to start flashing blue (handshake issues!!!).  For what itps worth, the Sony Projector is also connected to the Yamaha via a separate CAT6 Balun configuration, but this seems to be working as the cable connection doesn't seem to create an issue..

I can usually fix the handshake issue between the Oppo and Yamaha by powering on and back on, but this is a huge inconvenience.   I'm assuming that the Balun I'm using are just very finicky, but I would appreciate any advice a work around solution, (ie, possibly changing the firing pattern of the various devices upon start-up.

Also, any general concerns with using a Kramer Balun via Cat 6 over 40 a 40 foot run for this solution would be helpful.

Thanks again

Thanks for your help

Sold my Integra DHC80.3...and need to go out this weekend and find something else.

I sold the Integra to so called upgrade to the McIntosh MX121 ($6000 list) to match my McIntosh MC207 amps. My speakers are Klipsch Ref 7's dual Klipsch 15" subs in a treated room.

Now looking around these forums and reading about the Yamaha CX-A5000 and Marantz AV8801 I'm not so sure about spending $2500 more to get the less featured McIntosh MX121.

Thoughts?....

Mikes Stuff
McIntosh MC207 Amps.........................DarbyVision Darblet
Marantz AV8801 Processor.................Da-Lite Screen
Klipsch Reference Series 7.2................Panasonic BluRay BDT500
Epson Pro 6010 Projector.....................Sony Playstation used for SACD and BluRay

If sound quality is your thing and you are not bogged down with built in EQ, you should also consider the Primare 33.

Thanks seems like a cool unit but not much support here in the USA...went through that issue with a Loewe plasma tv...no fun.

I ordered the CXA-5000 with the MX-5000, after reading good reviews about them. I 've been using a 5010 Onkyio receiver, but in the past I chanced to have the RX 3000 an RX Z1 receivers that I enjoyed a lot. My set up is 11.1 and I prefer movies than music. In my new set up, my wides will go back from the surround speakers to serve as presence rear ones. I have height rear and front height boxes, so I expect to have a good response from the new gear. On the other hand, posts about the Yamaha CXA 5000 and MX 5000 line  should be placed in this thread, since in the existing other one discussions turn around other devices.

Congrats! I look forward to your impressions compared to the 5010. I am back to 5.1 but I have heights and in ceiling rears that could be used as front and back presence.

A little change in my plans. I gave a litle more thought on the subject and decided to use two amps Halo A51 and a Halo 21 with the CXA 5000. I'll have to expand my rack (being provided), buy another power conditioner (I have three now) and another sub. It was a little investment I hope bring good fruits.

Great plan! A21 for L&R and an A51 for the rest will make a fantastic setup with the CX. What speakers do you have or will have with this?

Hello!

Can anybody tell me ? the balanced outputs on the cx-a5000 are real balanced or just shortcuts from the rca connectors. that means is it true balanced design inside or not. I wanna gear my parasound halo a51 with true balanced signals.

and I see here are a lot of members using oppo 95/105. anybody compare these in direct preamp mode with xlr cables? when using oppoes as preamp. the dacs are same but the sound quality?

I have heard the 1400 Arrays with twin JL 212 subwoofers. Pretty sweet.

My LC40 speakers will substitute the rear channels. My presence rear will be placed back in my side walls. It implies more robust supports for the LC40 pair, but considering that we've already have surround with seven discreet channels, it's my only choice, unless I miss two components of my newly acquired JBL's Synthesis line. Presnce speakers can be of the old JBL lines, say the S26.
