The authorized dealer on ebay will e-mail you a store receipt (not e-bay) so you can use it for warranty purposes.

Waiting...but like the post above said, the ebay authorized seller sent me a copy of the sales receipt..im on vacation in rainy mexico, so don't know status...will keep u posted! I am having a potentially hard time with the theatre guys that installed everything, they don't want to cover costs of extra work/blown equipment, even though this happened less than 24 hours after initial setup...could get ugly! Hopefully not...will update soon..right now i have the most expensive dark room in peterborough!

Pioneer seem to have quite different models for US and Europe..

Does anyone know which US/EU models are equivalent?

Europe:

SC-LX87-k
SC-LX77-k
SC-LX57-k

US:

SC-79
SC-77
SC-75
SC-72
SC-71

A quick heuristic analysis of specs indicated that

A) The SC-LX87(S/K) is 9.2, AIR Certified, SABRE32 DAC, and has a USB DAC. The only SC model with all that is probably the SC-79 equivalent.
B) The SC-LX77(S/K) is similar, with the AIR certification and SABRE32 DAC, but has no USB DAC, so it is likely the SC-77 equivalent.
C) The SC-LC57(S/K) is similar, with the SABRE32 DAC but with no USB DAC and no AIR Certification, so that is probably the SC-75 equivalent.

Display: Panasonic P60UT50 (Plasma)
Speakers: (4) Monitor Audio Silver 9i (Front and Surround), (1) Monitor Audio Silver 12i (Center), (4) Monitor Audio Silver 4i (Rear and Wide), (2) Aperion Audio Bravus II 8d (Subwoofers)
Receiver: Pioneer Elite SC-77 AVR (9.2)
Sources: Oppo BDP-103, Roku 3, Cable...

I don't mean to be a donkey, but why would the installer cover the extra work if it is not their fault?

I see your point, but the problem is that no one has yet determined whether indeed it was a power surge issue or not..no one has been able to determine causality..we are waiting for the Pioneeer report re: damage to receiver to determine cause, or at least help determine what happened...it may have been a faulty Insteon (home automation) outlet issue, in which case it would be their responsibility imo...also, the theatre was only running for less than 24 hors before zonking out...and nothing else in the entire house except 3 theatre conponents died, somit is suspicious at best...I wish someone would deternine exact causality...very frustrating...

And we just found out that pioneer canada won't honour warranty if purchased product from USA...so I have 2 options: get them to assess damages and costs to repair and pay OR send back to USA for warranty work...EBay seller says they will help me in any way.. Just have to determine cheapest/best option..waiting for pioneer report

Also, considering a claim through home insurance..and if it was surge protector issue, which they installed, shouldn't they stand by their product? Tricky situation

It seems like either it's the unit's fault, Insteon's fault or the surge protector's fault. Definitely, however, it's not the installer's fault unless it can be proven that it's their installation to be the cause of the failure of any of those components mentioned.

Does anyone's volume control make a pidder padder noise when adjusting volume? My sc75 does. Just wondering if this is normal. My previous av recievers didn't do this (not Pioneer Elite).

Hooked up a Thiel Subwoofer from the Pioneer SC-77 Subwoofer Out 1 (It has two outputs in the preamp section of the back panel) to the LFE input on the sub. Have crossover set to the suggested 80hz. I don't hear any sound coming out of the sub. I've messed with a bunch of various settings but to no avail. Ideas?

Are you playing material that contains an LFE track? Are the L & R speaker size setting set to Large? If playing material that does not contain a dedicated LFE channel (such as a CD) and the L & R speaker sizes are set to large there will be no subwoofer output (unless the Subwoofer is set to plus in the speaker size menu). Also make sure that the Subwoofer is set to On (preferred) or Plus in this same menu.

Also if the Thiel Subwoofer has a crossover setting it should either be bypassed if possible (which may be the case with the LFE input on the sub), or it should be set as high as possible. If there is any doubt as to whether the crossover is bypassed, then set the crossover on the sub as high as it will go.

I am not sure if I have missed a setting or not but , when I and using my 1528 (sc75) and I am watching a movie or any sound input , and I have the sound setting to optimum and then I switch to one of the THX modes like pro logicIIz + THX cinema there is about a 5 db drop in sound output in the THX modes than the optimum mode for the same volume setting on the receiver?

Sorry I know this may be a loaded thread but I'm looking for a receiver for my home theater setup. It needs to drive 3 front kef ls50 speakers and a sub.

Can anyone make a case for the elites sc 75 or 77 over say the Yamaha Aventage range (eg the 2030)?

Thanks in advance

From real-life power perspective, there is no bias towards the SC75/77 or 2030. It depends on what feature set and subjective sound quality you're looking for.

It's a tough decision. I was in the same place a month ago. I was torn between 2030, 3030, and SC-75. I ended up going with the SC-75. If the 3030 was $200 cheaper I may have gone that way instead.

Like I said it was a tough decision, but I'm happy with the Pioneer. I probably would have been happy with the 2030 or 3030 as well though.

On paper, yes. In real-life measurements, no. The SC-75 rating is being written lower than reality in order to create distinction between the 77 vs 75.

Thanks so much for the feedback and info all!

Wish some of you were in Australia!

Not many deals here on the Pioneer - but will hunt one down in the next few weeks.  Never had a Pioneer before (previous Yamaha) so looking forward to it.

Cheers

Amazon has it for 1088 free shipping, and i can pick up the warranty for like 75 bucks. Thoughts?

I have an old Elite VSX-23...I like what I see out of the 75.

Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to spend 649 on an SC-63, or just go ahead and spent 1100 essentially on the SC-75. Thoughts?
