I have a old 5.1 home theater system. My rear projector TV bit the dust, I have a Carver amplifier, av-806x, six channel power amp., I replaced the TV monitor with a Samsung UN60f7050, monitor. Ilike pioneer's , but I look at others home theater receivers. Any suggestion of a receiver? I would to connect to monitor DVD/CD using HDMI. The Carver can only RCA inputs, I have infinity spekers. Can I use a 7.1 receivers with aa 5.i system?

You can use as few as 2 speakers or as many as 7 speakers with a 7.1 AVR. For what is available in the Denon series, you can review post #2 of each of the 2012 and 2013 threads linked in my sig to get an idea of features offered. Also determine what is your max budget.

2015 Denon AVR thread ----> http://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-rec...dcp-2-2-a.html

Think your AVR is defective? Check the Owner's manual and do a factory reset 4-5 times if necessary.
