As the DTS/DD processing would require passing through the DAC ... most likely yes, however, whether you would notice an improvement upgrading to the SR7009 is not certain.

Think your AVR is defective? Check the Owner's manual and do a factory reset 4-5 times if necessary.

Well it looks like my second SR7008 has toasted itself. I've had this one since May.

Odd symptoms though; a few days ago it started not recognizing Dolby Digital sources intermittently and would just default to stereo. Today it went into shutdown. I unplugged it for about ten minutes, plugged it back in and get no audio.

I did a factory reset, ran through a few settings and am getting zero output from the speakers. No audio from multiple sources and no test tones.

Anything else I should try before sending it in?

Thanks,

Warren

^^
You could try doing 4-5 factory resets in a row, otherwise, if still no joy, repair time.

Is there a way to display what KHz (44.1, 96 or 192) is playing? I think when I first bought the SR7008 I could see this but I can't seem to find it now. I'm playing FLAC from a NAS.

Thanks

If you have an iDevice from Apple, you can try the app called DeRemote. It will display the source frequency and number of channels on the main screen. I use this when streaming music files from the DLNA device to check.

Marantz SR-7009, Oppo BPD-93, MTV 7000D, aTV, WDTV Live, Harmony 650 remote, KEF E301+T101, MiniDSP(2x4) & 10x10HD, Emotiva 2xXPA-5 (Gen2), Rythmik 2xF12G+2xF8, HiMedia Q16, LG 55EC9300.

Nope, not an Apple guy. I thought the Marantz SR7008 could display the KHz's, I guess I'm remembering my old Yamaha AVR.

It will with the internet radio sources, perhaps not with the external sources unless they are "bitstream" instead of "PCM."

When I set my speakers to small I still get the same amount of bass . Also I went to to the amp configurations and set speakers to bi amp and noticed a huge difference in power it seems even though I have not wired my speakers for it , just the standard positive to negative . Is this normal?

SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND.

Although not designed to power 4-ohm speakers, it should power them at moderate TV listening volume levels (ie. 60/-20db).
