If you are referring to the Dyn EQ Reference Level Offset, then yes (p. 168 Owner's manual).

This is a feature I have seen discussed on the Audyssey Thread, although not recently. As I understand it, Tom, it allows the user to adjust peak subwoofer volume down from the max peak of 115db. The ones I have read about either have gradations of up to 10db, or a single setting of -10 to reduce max bass to the same 105db as the satellites. It's just another tool for fine tuning, but apparently not one that Marantz is currently implementing. At least I can't find any reference to it in the manual.

Thanks, JD, but this is something different, as described above.

Ya the D&M products don't offer that option. I've seen something similar in the Pioneer Elites where you can set the max bass level. It starts out with a low Rumble test tone and you crank it up until the subwoofer distortion kicks in and back it back down a touch. Then it's setup to not output any higher than the level you set.

Only the new 2014 models (SR7009, AV7702, AV8802) will include Atmos as it requires at least 4 processors to incorporate Atmos with Audyssey.

Ah, so then you'll want to use Audyssey LFC (low frequency containment) - p. 169

I was getting great advise on how to get my Zone2 to work , but had no luck with it so I was giving up on my sr5008 (thinking that my new receiver zone 2 is broken). But over the weekend my wife and I are sitting in the sunroom when we hear a faint noise fading in and out from the speakers in the sunroom. My son was watching the ball game in the main room but when I put the speaker up to my ear what I heard was back ground noise and not the actual ball game. I checked the wires and they were fine, I checked the the volume on zone 2 turned it up to 65 but no luck, went back to the main and turned that up and still nothing. This sounds like the zone2 speakers are getting crossed with the rear speakers in the main, what do you guys make of this.

Check the amp assign in setup. 5.1 + zone 2 is what you're looking for. You may have it set up as 7.1

So I went to setup menu, speakers, manual setup, amp assign, zone2 automatically comes up and what it shows is front ,center, and surround speakers and surround back and front height not used. I didn't see a 5.1 or 7.1 option. I also went into speakers/distance I assumed that this is for the main and not zone2 I had it set up for the main.

Thanks again, JD. I remember seeing that feature earlier, but somehow didn't associate it with the function I was just looking for.

I've bought SR5008 2 days back. No regrets buying it.
One question thou. Why it seems that it can't detect DTS HD Master or Dolby TrueHD ?

First the HD track needs to be selected on the Blu Ray disc and the BDP must have Secondary Audio (or Mix) set to off.

For members with SR7005,6,7 , I have a question.

My source is Oppo 103, connected to Marantz S7007 using HDMI cable (audioquest forest)
For 2 channel music stereo playback do you recommend going with RCA's instead of HDMI? Will the imaging and detail improve noticeably?
Also does anyone use high quality speaker cable for the Marantz? Any noticeable improvement for Music?
Let's just disregard any surround sound part and base it solely for music listening in stereo mode.
I would like honest feedback from members who has gone from HDMI to RCA analog.
Would it be a waste of money to get a pair of cardas speaker cable or nordost vs plain oxygen free 12 gauge copper speaker wire?
Any real experiences would be appreciated.

This is a legacy setting that has since been replaced by Audyssey Dynamic Volume which is on all 2013 Marantz models to include the SR5008.

Hi, am now in the proces of reading through all the pages, but I've read a disturbing thing about the 6008.
Am I correct, to say, that I can not have a Beamer and a TV in the same zone?

One of My aims was to buy the 6008 to allow it to replace be my 4 x 2 HDMI switch.

thx all

The 6008 has a main zone and Zone 2 HDMI output, such that you can play either the same source or a different source, however, if you play the same source, the audio will be downmixed in the main zone to whatever the PJ is able to receive. You may want to wait for the new 2014 SR5009 which has 2 main zone outputs instead which would not do any downmixing of the 5.1/7.1 audio.

Since 5009 and 7008 are now roughly the same price.

Aside from features, would there be much different Audio quality between the 5009 and 7008?

thx

I have a question about the inputs on the receiver. This is just out of curiosity. Since the receiver names its inputs by the device (CBL/SAT, dvd/bluray, etc.) for the HDMI, component and composite inputs, does that mean I can't have a device connected on the CBL/SAT HDMI input and the CBL/SAT component input at the same time (maybe the HDMI input will be the cable box and the component input will be an older device)? Otherwise how would you select the CBL/SAT component input vs. the HDMI input. I remember other brands of receiver go by HDMI 1, HDMI 2, .... AV1, AV2, etc. Any response to the question will be appreciated.

Thanks

Since the 7008 has XT32 it is very likely you will gain quality.

Audio quality is usually a subjective issue, so only you can answer that question based on what YOUR ears hear..
