Hello,

I want to finally upgrade my soundbar system (Sony CT150) to real speakers. Overall I am very happy with the soundbar, but want room filling sound. I am debating between the Denon 1713 and 2113CI.

I plan to pair the receiver with a 3.1 setup of 3x Ascend 170 SE or 3x CMT-340 SE + a budget sub. System will probably stay at 3.1, but at the worst case never above 5.1.

I was able to score the 1713 for $254 (after tax) from Best Buy clearance, which I have not opened yet. Lowest price on the 2113Ci I can find is $403. Is it worth the extra $149 for the 2113CI?

I know the wattage difference per channel between the two has no real world difference in volume/quality. However, I like the fact that 2113CI has component so that I can connect my Wii through the receiver. Then again, I HARDLY use the Wii.

I have a Samsung 51" D7000 Plasma TV connected to a Fios HD Box, WDTV Live, Samsung BDT110 Blu-Ray player all through HDMI and then the Wii via Component.

Should I just stick with the 1713 or go 2113CI? Don't want to waste any money if I don't have to. I can live with the Wii directly connected to the TV, if that is the only feature worth going. Also, will never use the different Zone features.

Appreciate any feedback!

get a Wii to HDMI converter for $20-25 and keep your 1713.

Stick with the 1713 and put the savings into upgrading your speakers as afrogt suggested.

Great, the 1713 seems perfect for me.

Now, what if I were to go with 3x Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1's for LCR? Would the Denon 1713 be able to handle that? I do not plan to crank up the volume too loud as I am in a townhouse with thin walls.

Yup ... all Denon AVRs are designed to power 6-8ohm speakers without issue.
