I listened to Prologic IIx also and doesn't sound as good as Neo 6. I think more processing on Prologic where Neo on my system just sound like 2 channel but BIGGER! Maybe different on different systems?

Yes, movies sound SO good that I've watched more movies also but still love music period. But when I listen to stereo I have got into the habit of using Neo 6. It sounds so much like stereo that I'm used to but just much better because it sounds so much bigger.

Yeah I didn't care what movie I was watching. They all sounded so amazing. I actually remember one in particular that played mind games with all of us including the dog. Belive it or not it was Ferris Buelers Day Off. The part where they were trying to run the odometer back on his dads car. There was birds chirping in the background. They were clearly coming from a spot half way down my left wall up towards the ceiling. There isnt a speaker within 4 feet of that location. But it was the most precise image that both my dog and I got fooled. We were both looking up there. I started cracking up. My dog and I looked at each other as if to say wow. It was amazing.

Ok I have been reading about the Foundation for a while now. Still not sure if this processor plays DVDA 5.1 audio discs and Blue rays? I enjoy these formats and as the Foundation has no balanced inputs other than stereo, is it all done via HDMI

Not sure what you are asking. The Foundation doesn't play any disks. Everything hooks into it. You play the dvd audio disk and blue rays in your player. You hook up your player to the hdmi inputs of the Foundation.

I totally understand that the Krell doesn't play discs. Will the foundation process 5.1 DVDA audio SACDs etc from my Oppo via HDMI?

Yes, as PCM since it will not, at present, accept DSD.

So while iI not really up on all the tech stuff, I did look up PCM and DSD and I am not really sure what's the difference and why one is better over the other? Also, how do balanced cables compare to an HDMI connection? Just trying to learn here. Is there any talk of a 4K pass thru as I am also looking for a new display

Thanks

1.  There are at least two camps of opinion here.  Then there is, also, the proponents of not transcoding from one to the other vs. the proponents of transcoding.  You should form your own opinions but, imho, the really important issue is in determining what music you like and what format that comes in.

2.  Balanced cables are used for analog signals while HDMI conveys digital signals, audio and video.  Also, the Foundation lacks multichannel analog inputs, RCA or XLR.

3.  Dunno.

gbaby likes this.

If you have a player that can do 4K you can always bypass the Foundation for video (if you have at least two outputs) and use it only for audio. There is no on screen display for Foundation anyway

is the CEC Operations update maybe to fix your issue with the TV playing audio together with your AV system?

CEC is off, Krell reply that this is a new feature we added to the Foundation so users can listen to their video sources through their TVs without having to turn on the entire system.

But I can tell you all that when the foundation is off, nothing can pass through.

Also, only 80% Bul Ray Disc is audio out through HDMI, around 20% disc is normal that no HDMI audio out.

I wonder if they added dsd support yet? Look in the menu under audio. I would think it would be in there somewhere.

.

Hi yuppi ; this cec firmware seems to be a very close relative of my sherbourn pt7030's cec power on mode . Try activating it then switching off that particular hdmi source ; then the foundation then turn the same source back on.

It has to be the last used source - if your attempt was another input that may be the causal link ? Good luck ; its an invaluable tool whether called video on standby or some proprietary name smile.gif
