Vvuuren you got the message to send in your unit too? I paid for my upgrade and haven't heard anything. I wasn't aware you sent yours in.

Yes, still waiting anxiously! I paid same or next day, can't remember but it was soon after getting the email. Just wanted to clear out to myself if I wanted to future proof my Foundation because I don't have a 4K TV yet.

Some Bluray movies match certain processors well ( can't explain why)! The best discs I demoed with my friends over the last few days with Foundation are Battleship, The day after tomorrow, 2012 and Godzilla. Battleship especially sounded spectacular with jaw dropping sonic detail from Foundation. Just sharing with other users so you can test it out despite bad IMDB ratings.

Thanks Peter. Another Foundation user. Welcome aboard.

I have seen Godzilla and Battleship with the Foundation. And they sound great. My biggest wow moment with it was while watching Ferris Beulers Day Off believe it or not. Maybe it was that I wasn't expecting much. There is a scene that blew me and my dog and wife away.

Arc

OK all you experts, probably another dumb question, but how do you configure an input to use the Audio Return Channel?

I can see that I can set the Audio setting to ARC1 or ARC2 which presumably corresponds to the two HDMI outputs, but what on earth do you set the Video setting to?

Mark when you order the Foundation you need to specify rack mount. It is 150.00 extra. It comes with a completely different top case and rack ears. I however was able to buy the kit after the fact by calling Krell. They gave me the kit for 100.00 but I had to send in the old top.

P.S: Foundation has a small break in period. 2 Channel music sounding much better after 2 weeks. Now it sounds better than Cary cinema.

This is the craziest processor I ever had for 2 channel movie viewing also. Many times I think it is 5.1 till I see 2 channel on the front display. Unbelievable how sound envelopes you just from the front speakers.

Yes it is an amazing piece. The greatest experience I had was with Ferris Beulers Day Off. The scene where they are trying to run the odometer back on his dads car. There is a darn bird chirping that comes from way up high between the left front and left side surround speaker. My whole family including dog and cat were fooled. I actually stopped the movie because the dog and cat kept staring up there. I turned the light on and low and behold there was no bird in the room. But all of us were trying to figure out how to get the bird out before we realized that there wasn't one. That was what convinced me the Foundation was a keeper. And why I could really care less about atmos and ceiling speakers. I already have ceiling speakers. And didn't even have to put any up. Hehe

Just wondering if 5300 is a good price for a new Foundation 4k or should I go with a new 1200 for 6500?

Would $5300 be a good Deal on a foundation 4k (new) or a new 1200 for 6500 a better deal? 2015 will be the last year they make the 1200
