With the Xbox One on the way, I'm looking at the Klipsch RF-82 II Home Theater for the speakers and Sony STR-DN1040 for the receiver. The main reason for the Sony is good reviews and it seems to have enough power (165W RMS) for the Klipsch floor speakers (150W RMS). My question is, is this receiver actually powerful enough for all of those speakers? Most of the other receivers I am looking at are a lot lower than 165W per channel. I don't want the amp to burn out if it will be struggling if I am running 7 channels. I know just going by what the watts claim to be isn't really enough to determine if there will be enough power. I have been dealing with mainly car audio and there you need dedicated amps.
It will certainly not be a biggie. I am currently using a STR-DN1030 on a lower priced set of speakers, also Sony, SS-F7000. I am very confident that the DN1040 will be able to drive your speakers and perform well.
Just checked the last thing. The subwoofer is active, so there should be no worries.
All the best.
