Ok so I've had a pioneer elite sc-71 receiver for almost 2 months now. I have a few days to return it to best buy and get something else if I want. I bought this for $1000 and its a 7.2 ch 120w rms & 8ohms with a class d-3 amp. Overall it's been powering my setup pretty decently but I like to crank up blue-ray movies so it shuts off a lot which has been getting annoying and it doesn't have an eq for subs. I'm wondering for a budget of $1800 or maybe $2000 at most, what other receiver would I get more out of as far as more power and quality? My choices are any Denon, yamaha, and marantz brands, and off course pioneer. I've never had a marantz but there's some models pushing 125 rms for $1800, I wonder if it'd give me more juice and quality verse this pioneer elite. Thanks for any advice

Why dont you add a more powerful 2 or 3 channel amp? I doubt you'll need more power for the surround speakers.

Well you know what, that's actually another idea that's been crossing my mind. This is my first setup so that me see if I understand this correctly. All I need is like a good 3 ch external amp for my fronts and center, so if I got one all I'd have to do is run it from the receiver to the speakers and that'd be it rite? I would need anything else?

Wow, so all I'd have to pay is $700 for that amp and I'd get 200w rms & 8ohms to each sp? Hey this looks like a good idea smile.gif

you'd need mono Male to Male RCA cables from the receiver to the Amp. and a 12v trigger cable (mono 3.5mm) to signal the amp to turn on.

Cool, ill get all the cables this week and order an amp. The one you showed me looks like a good price. Are there any other 3 ch amps that are good for under $1000 or is this one good enough?
