I cannot get the sub woofer to work. What speaker setting do I need to get it to work? I'm running two Def Tech SM55's (front left & right) and only the sub woofer BW and for the life of me can't get it to work.

Have you tried not running your fronts as large? At least for a test. Connected digitally, are you sure your giving it content with a .1 channel?

What do you mean as large? I have tried it with HDMI input/outputs and just trying to listen to music to get the sub to play but no avail. The Best Buy rep said to manually test the sub of which I haven't figured it out yet. Onkyo has numerous settings and its confusing to say the least.

To test a powered stand alone sub? Just disconnect from the avr side and touch the RCA, it should buzz / hum. If it does not, then try a new RCA cable first....

2 channel music does not have a .1 channel. If the speakers are set to large, most often you get no sub output.
