Hello,

Unfortunately, I bought an old Bose 2.1 system more than a year ago! as you all know no low, no high!
Now I am looking for a real sound system. I am looking for a system for mainly listening to music and I am mainly looking for a good sound quality and wireless/air play connectivity. I might use it as a home theater system later so having surround capability is important too.
After doing some research I came up with these setup:

Harman Kardon AVR 1700
Surround System Class5.1 channel
Amplifier Output Details 100 Watt,
8 Ohm - 20 - 20000 Hz - THD 0.07 % - 2 channel(s),
6/8 Ohm - THD 1.0 % - 2 channel(s)

2xTSi500 - Floorstanding | Polk Audio
Sensitivity 91 dB
Impedance 8 Ohm
Tower RMS Power 20-275 W
Weight 45.00 lbs
Frequency Response Range 28 Hz to 25 kHz

This is a stereo setup which I am hoping to get enough base from these speakers. Regarding my room size, I have a 5.8x8m living room. Can you please tell me what you think about this setup and if you can give me any advise to make it better?
(btw I live in Canada and this system will cost me 900$)

Thanks,

Kaveh

I don't know if you'll get a lot of bass from those towers or not. The frequency response looks good but who knows for sure? go listen to them at Best Buy or Futureshop if you can before purchase.

Thanks afrogt for your response.
Very good point. I will definitely do that before buying them.
My other concern is that the speakers are 20-275W, but the receiver that I am looking to get is 95wpc. The sensitivity and impedance looks fine though. I am sure that I would never need to crank the volume that high. However, can I say that this setup will give me a decent sound quality up to 80wpc?
I also looked at other amps with higher wpc but they are way out of my budget. Any advice?

The receiver will be fine. Just because your speakers can handle a max of 275 watts doesn't mean you need a receiver with that kind of power capability.

First thing, they don't make receivers that can output 275 watts/channel. 100W is more common and that's only 2 channels driven, not 5 or 7.

My Energy RC-70's can handle 250w and my RC LCR can handle 200. I'm currently using a receiver that puts on 75w/channel and its plenty loud for my needs.

Unless you have a concert hall for a room your HK 1700 will be fine.
