My old basic pioneer 1017 has finally died and need a new av receiver for the living room. The speakers are b&w 683 l/r and center with a wireless rocketfish roter powering some old rears. Due to the house configuration I can only run 5.1. We only use the room for ht movies and cable tv. I plan to add a sub soon but the receiver has to come first. Any and all suggestions would be great as I am now completely confused as what to get. I was sold on pioneer elite 60 which a friend of mine has but then I was directed towards the marantz 5007, and now the denon x2000 which look impressive as well.
Are these a good fit or am I missing something. I also saw the refurb receivers on accessories4less but not sure if this is the right move as I don't want to have a receiver that will fail in the near future.
Sorry that this question has been asked mult times but don't want to pick something inadequate. Thanks
The 5007 is last year's model, matching up with the Denon 2113CI, while the X2000 is the 2113CI's successor model just released this year. Either would be a good choice if they meet your feature and budget requirements.
Thanks for the help, I am a nube when it comes to avrs and all the upgrades. My price point is $5-600. I just want to get the best sound I can possibly can for the money. I am leaning toward the denon x2000 but the marantz sr 6005 also is catching my interest.

Ok, so scratch the sr 6005 if it has the older audyssey and will look into the 6006. I can't find info on a denon nr818. Did you mean the onkyo nr818? I have never demoed an onkyo, how is the quality for ht and reg tv viewing? I have a 1080 led 55" lg flat screen that is 3 years old that I will be viewing it on ( the tv speakers are awful.. Go figure). My wife liked the idea of a refurb 3312 denon or the x2000 marantz that she saw on accessories4less. Now has me completely undecided.
The Denon models would likely perform very similarly; however, some prefer Marantz more for music and Denon for movies. The X2000/X3000/5008 all are 2013 models with newer features while the 5007 is last year's model so if the 5007 offers all the features you need, it is on clearance and likely available at a much lower price point.
Thanks, I think I am going to get the marantz 5007 but wasn't sure if I needed hdam or what it exactly does. If it only improves mp3 compressed files then I don't really need it.
