I can go either way with the processor or avr. I have amps to cover the speaker outputs. I was really interested in the Denon x4000 because of the new features. I do not really know if there is a better option out there for me when it comes to processors. I have never really looked into them so maybe some of you guys can help me on that. I do not want a yamaha avr. I have three of them already. I want to venture off into another brand such as Denon or Marantz.

Budget: $2000 or less

Expectations: Networking, 9.1 min, dts Neo X, audyssey multieq XT32, preouts (obviously).

Thanks for your time.

Download the user manuals for the AVRs you want to investigate and read them carefully before you buy. I think the x4000 will do what you want, but I'm not going to give you a written warranty! ;-)

I think the X4000 will be a great choice too and the price is good, but I just wanted to hear what other people think about any other options. I have been intrigued by the Marantz avr's, but I feel they are kind of expensive.

If your budget is $2000 then all of the Marantz receivers are within your budget. The SR7008 is almost the same as the Denon X4000. MSRP is $2000 but you can do better if you negotiate with your local dealer. wink.gif

I'd save some money and go with the X4000 if I were you. biggrin.gif

I was 99% sure that I was going to get the X4000 and you guys have finished off that last 1%. Just wanted to make sure before I spent the money. Thanks

The X4000 is a 7.2 AVR which can be expanded to 9.2 with an external amp while the Marantz 7008 and the Denon 4520CI (expandable to 11.2 with external amp) are both 9.2 AVRs. All three models would include the other features you want, the 4520CI being Denon's current flagship model.
