I have a Pioneer VSX-821 that is suppose to play SACDs. I run a Sony DVP-CX 995V that is a CD/DVD/SACD? etc player. I used to run the Sony through a different receiver and was able to get SACD sound out of it.
I don't get any SACD sound out of the Pioneer VSX-821. All the other formats, CD, etc play just fine in the Sony DVP-CX 995V through the Pioneer. What settings to I need to adjust/fix on the Pioneer? How do I get to those?
Thanks for the great feedback guys. I'm a bit of the neophyte when it comes to all of this. Could you please give me the specific Outputs and inputs
I need to hook up the Sony player? Thank you so much for your timely and great help.
I think you're out of luck with your current set-up. The player only outputs SACD audio through its multi-channel analogue outputs, but the AVR doesn't have a set of multi-channel analogue inputs to connect to.
If it's feasible for you to do so, just pick up an inexpensive (new or used) DVD or BD player that handles SACDs and outputs the audio via HDMI.
Connect a set of stereo analog (red/white) cables from any one of the 3 outputs I circled in blue. Connect that to the CD input on the back of your Pioneer VSX-821. When you want to listen to SACD's turn your Pioneer to the CD input.
Your quick replies are greatly appreciated. I think I understand it now.
My Sony is a bit on the old side, so it doesn't send OUT the SACD multichannel via HDMI, but only via analog (there via multiple cables). But, if I try to use the cables to connect to the Pioneer, it doesn't have the analog ports for this.
The Pioneer only receives the multichannel SACD via HDMI?
