I just purchased a samung 60inch 7100 LED tv. I replaced a 6000 series LED. I basically unplugged the single HDMI cable which was going from my Onkyo 507 ( i think ) HDMI out to the TV. I then have everything else ( PS3, Bluray, Xbox and so on ) hooked into various HDMI ins on the rec. the surround sound works while watching tv, blurays and playing games. However I tried for the first time the netflix directly on the tv and it appears to only work through the tv speakers. I went ahead and tried to turn on external speakers only, but nothing comes through the surround sound for netflix when directly on the tv. I am curious what step am I missing? is there an Audio cable , I basically have all my inputs HDMI running into the rec and the output HDMI running to tv HDMI1 is there a way when using the netflix feature on the tv to use the rec, or since the netflix app is built in will it only run through the tv speakers. I was wondering if I had to do an audio from the TV back to the rec?

sorry I am very new

You need to enable ARC on both TV and AVR

Hi highbrow, the Samsung 7100 LED TV support ARC (audio return channel) which is HDMI-2 but the Onkyo TX-SR507 does not. So you would need to connect an optical cable from TV "Digital Audio Out" to Onkyo "TV/CD" input.

thanks guys I greatly appreciate it appears the 710 does arc from HDMI 2 but the rec. does not. I am in the process of ordering a Marantz either 6008 or 7008 , which appears to support the concerns
