Hello everyone!
I have bought this audio set-up:

Speakers:

- Cerwin vega CLS 12 front
- Cerwin vega XLS 6 rear + center

Receiver / amp:

- Yamaha RX-V3900 surround receiver (for rear speakers and center)
- Yamaha P5000 Power amplifier (for the cls-12 fronts)

I am struggling to connect the P5000 amp to the receiver. I am getting no signal and no sound.
A diode on the amp lights when it has signal, but this has never lighted.
I’m not sure why.
Im using phono – to – jack plugs on the amp. The cable from receiver to amp is a Ar9on audio phono cable(RCA?).
Is my connection wrong or is my RX-V3900 making problems?
Im quite new to this also so i`ll post some pictures. A picture says more than 1000 words, right? smile.gif

Your YS Processing is switched on. Switch it off if your speakers have built-in crossover in them. Also, you are using mono TRS plug to feed stereo signal. You need stereo TRS adaptor.

You will also have to match the gain structure between two disparate sound equipments. Yamaha P5000 is a pro amp and RX-V3900 is CE. They both have different gain structure. You need to match them with each other.

Thanks for the fast answer braveheart!

I will check and see if the Cls-12`s have built-in crossover.

Is this the adaptor you are talking about?

Different gain structure and match them up. I have never done anything like that. Do you have a recommended site where i can read more about that and how its done, if you dont have time to tell me?rolleyes.gif

That reminds me of the first time I went to DC. I was standing outside the pentagon metro station and I was asking people, "where is pentagon?" biggrin.gif
