My Samsung TV UE40ES6100 is connected with the yamaha htr 4065 receiver through a hdmi 1.4 cable.
I use the ARC connection from the TV, so I can control the sound of the TV with this receiver. This works fine until I want to adjust the volume with the receiver. When adjusting the volume the picture and sound disappear for a few seconds en then come back again.
Same problem with my eminent EM7080 mediaplayer which is connected through a hdmi 1.4 cable with the yamaha. When I watch a movie which is stored on de mediaplayer's harddisk, and I adjust the volume, the picture and sound disappear for a few seconds.
Does anyone know what is wrong?

The Samsung display is not HDMI certified..
These type of issues are very common as Samsung has not passed the certification and interoperability testing for HDMI products. Samsung does this internally to save $..

Just my $0.05... 👍😉

more than likely you have an OSD on the receiver which perhaps tries to overlay the volume display on the picture. Depending on what the resolutions are set to for the receiver and what the TV can support, they maybe some "disjointness" which might be causing this to happen.... my guess.
