WHAT IS THE BEST SETTING TO USE FOR THE TV SOUND, LIKE THX THXMOVIE....ETC

I'm not getting what you are trying to say. You want to use arc to feed tv audio into 809?

Please turn off caps lock, it is considered rude..
As to your settings I generally decode the sources native setting, Dolby digital or the like for multi channel content. For two channel source material I use Dolby PLII to matrix faux surround sound. Applying THX DSP's on top of the source decoding is a preference thing. Try it on different source material to see if you like it.

I'm sorry for the caps i'm not be rude thats just the way i write..!    know to the issue that i have i don't want to get crazy because this receiver can be very intimidating. all i want is to get the best sound when watching t v, listening to music and watching blue ray dvd's. please advise me on that i have a 5.1 system hooked up. thank you in advance.!

Well i have the following.

1-panasonic blu ray hook up hdmi DMP-BD35

2-apple tv hdmi

3-roku hdmi

4-ps3 hdmi

5-xbox hdmi

6 kiplisch 5.1 center front lft and rht rear lft and rht and  woofer

thats what i have

For movies, I always put the receiver in straight decode mode. That is as the sound is recorded in the source i.e. DD/DTS. Onkyo 809 doesn't use the same nomenclature for Straight, just play a movie (DD or DTS) and toggle through the movie modes. Leave it where you see DD or DTS. For any other source, it's all personal preference. Use the one your ears like.
