If I connected an Ethernet cable to the back of my dish vip 722 dvr and then used my new hdmi with Ethernet cable from the dvr to a internet ready home theater receiver, will the home theater receiver get internet connectivity?

Sorry, but no. AFAIK, there are currently no AVRs on the market that can actually take advantage of an HDMI with Ethernet cable. frown.gif

Nope. But does your receiver have its own ethernet cable jack? If so, you can buy a USB-powered ethernet switch like the one below and use that to connect both your receiver and DVR to wherever your DVR is currently connected.
