ANYHOW, IM IN A DILEMA. I CURRENTLY OWN A MONITOR AUDIO SET UP. I HAVE THE MARANTZ SR7007 DRIVING MY SPEAKERS AND WOULD LOVE TO HEAR AN IMPROVEMENT IN SOUND. I HAD A ROTEL POWER AMP AND SOLD IT BECAUSE I FELT IT WAS TOO BRIGHT FOR MY TASTE SO I KEPT USING THE MARANTZ RECEIVER ALL ALONE . HOWEVER, I CAME UP ON A GREAT DEAL ON A NAD M25 POWER AMP AND A ANTHEM MRX700 RECEIVER.
HERES MY QUESTION TO YOU ALL, HOW DIFFERENT WILL THE SOUND BE IF I. CHOOSE THE NAD AND USE THE MARANTZ AS MY PREAMP VERSUS THE ANTHEM MRX700 BY ITSELF?
I CAN GET EITHER THE ANTHEM OR THE ANTHEM FOR ABBOUT THE SAME PRICE.
WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS DO? I WANT EVERYONES INPUT . .
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
Anthem ARC room correction system....it replaced
A very good Marantz.
BUT, I don't know if this will totally address the "brightness"
Issues you keep referencing for the past couple of weeks.
It was asked of you before to describe in detail your listening
Room. A couple of pictures from your cell phone would be even
More valuable. You have yet to do this, and until you do you may
Be on this amp merry-go-round for awhile.
I have no experience with NAD gear.
BOTTOM LINE, WHICH ONE WOULD BE A SMARTER DECISION WHEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT MY ROOM SEEN ABOVE, BRIGHTNESS OF SPEAKERS DUE TO EITHER THE SPEAKErS OR ROOM ACOUSTICS AND LASTLY THE DOLLAR AMOUNTS IM GETTING THEM FOR? ? ?
You may be having an issue with the one speaker so close to a wall. I've got the same general set up, but I don't play my system very loud. I am puzzled at your mixed results though, Marantz has an excellent rep. I'm assuming you've employed Audyssey?
One can always throw more money at a system, but it's tough to predict how things will go. I don't suppose you can try out the NAD or Anthem before buying? I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on either brand.
After doing some reading, it does appear that your Monitor Audio speakers are bright sounding to some people. I have also read that Rotel can be on the bright side, but definitely not Marantz. Here's a thought, does any of your cabling have silver in it? I'm not familiar with Audioquest, but silver is known for enhancing the higher frequencies.
Other than that, it's too bad you can't change speakers, that's the source of your issue I think. I have some speakers that I became aware were on the bright side. I tried different preamps(2 channel system) and ended up with a Parasound amp(they roll off the highs somewhat) but it would be an expensive experiment for you.
A FRIEND OF MINE SAID TO GRAB THE NAD, SELL THE MARANTZ AND BUY THE EMOTIVA UMC200 PREAMP WITH THE OUSTANDING ROOM CORRECTION AND SUBWOOFER CALIBRATION AND HE SAID IT WILL SOUND MUCH BETTER THAN THE MARANTZ.
I HAVE A GUT FEELING THE NAD WILL WARM THINGS UP IN AN IMPRESSIVE WAY. .
