Greetings one and all,

One of the companies bidding for my business has suggested the Marantz SR7008 as he does not deal with Integra and the 80.3. I need some help here. I have learned so much from you senior members and am asking to glean it yet one more time. My listening will by about 85% video and 15% music. The system is as follows:

FR & FL: Martin Logan Ethos
Center: Martin Logan Stage X
SR, SL, RR, and RL: Martin Logan Vanquish
Sub: Martin Logan Descent i

What do you recommend? Someone told me that the system being "4 OHMs" should be a consideration. Also, I need 140+ watts per channel according to the same source.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I would go with the Denon 4520, if you decide to go the receiver route. It has a beefier amp section and is rated to drive four ohm speakers. Also, it has the latest version of Audyssey (XT32). Not sure if the Marantz is even rated for four ohms.

If you don't plan on playing the system above moderate volume levels (ie. < -20db), the 7008 should handle the speakers just fine, otherwise if you listen closer to reference level (ie. 0db), you may need an external amp, otherwise as suggested above the Denon 4520CI would be a good choice as it is designed to power 4-ohm speakers to reference volume levels as well as being Denon's current flagship model, although all three models use the same version of Audyssey MultEQ XT32. One feature the 7008 has over the 4520CI is that it can pass any PCM 2.0 digital audio to Zone 2, whereas the 4520CI can only do it via HDMI using the Zone 4(HDMI) output.
