Hi All.

I am going to be building a house very shortly... It has a planned media room which will be 5.2 meters x 5.3m. ( not ideal but at least I have managed to convince the boss for a dedicated room:) )

I currently have the speakers with no intention to change them. They are Monitor Audio GX300 fronts, GXC350 centre, GS20 rear and RXFX.

I have a Dennon 4311 AVR..

What I need some advice on is:

Projector.... Being told either a Epsom 9100 or an Optma HD33
plus a screen to match.

Plus on shop says Dennon is fine ( they sold it to me when I bought the GX300's), But the other is telling me my speakers are wasted with this AVR and I should be changing to the Yamaha RXA3030...

any info or thoughts would really help me out.....

Thanks in advance

Sales guys will tell you anything in order to make a buck.
Do you feel your denon is holding you back? If so, how? If not then tell the sales guy to stuff it.

I don't need snobs to tell me how to think, thank you!
LOL!

Although the 3030 is likely a fine AVR, Audyssey MutlEQ XT32 in the 4311CI is a tough benchmark to beat.

Re. a PJ: Get one that's well-rated, has the features you want/need*, falls within your budget and will work in your space. Check out ProjectorCentral.com for information, and use the Projection Calculator to make sure that the PJ(s) you're eyeing will work in your space.

(*If possible, get one with lens shift. I consider that to be an extremely useful feature.)

Re. a screen: Lots of good brands out there to choose from. I have a Grandview that I'm very happy with. Other options include Carada, Da-Lite, Draper, Elite and Stewart.

Re. an AVR: Why did you choose the Denon AVR-4311? (A good choice, IMO.) What are the shop's reasons for claiming that the Yamaha RX-A3030 is a better AVR to own? Do those reasons make sense to you?

Thanks for the info, appreciate it..
I bought the 4311 as that was what was being used to showcase the GS300's at the time, and it sounds 100x better than the current AVR that I had.

As we are talking now about having a dedicated media room, which it was never before, I am not sure..

The 4311 is still one of the best receivers out there. Unless you have money to burn, I would hang on to it.

How does having a dedicated media room alter your satisfaction with the performance of the AVR-4311?

Do you think having a dedicated media room makes the RX-A3030 a better choice? If 'yes', why?
