I have been listening to B&K ST2140 power amplifier for a few weeks now. In my opinion it’s the best amp under $1000 without question. I have owned a Krell and Anthem amps before. The ST2140 blows all of these amps away even though the prices I paid for them were much higher.
As far as I know, B&K for some reason never got the respect it deserved. The sound was always described as "too controlled" by whomever. Anything could be further from the truth. At least the B&K ST2140 that I am listening to now is a gutsy amp. It’s just that its ability to bring out the details and subtleties in a recording tends to overshadow its straightforward dynamism. It can most definitely rock… given the right material (I played AC/DC on it and it was just superb).
Hook this up with a great pair of speakers and a decent preamp and you will be in for a real treat. I have been searching for a power amp that gives me all the details, power, and most importantly, the right sonic timbre. I guess the search is over now. I am a very happy man!

The ST-140 was my fav when i had a two channel rig. Paired with Spica TC-50's and a Vandersteen 2W sub. That system used a Musical Fidelity B1 integrated amp for the mains...... Sweeeeeeeeet

The ST-140 would have been the grandfather to the 2140 i think.
